When it comes to redecorating your family room you can do as much or as little as you want depending on your budget, from a complete redecoration including wallpapering, painting and re-carpeting to simply replacing accessories to change up the room.
Once you have changed your walls and flooring, if you are, you can start focusing on how to change your accessories.
1. Soft furnishings
When changing your soft furnishings to suit your new color theme, you can start with changing some of your cushions. Add simple cushions to your couch and chairs to create a more comfortable and homely vibe within your family room. This room will more than likely be the room you spend a lot of your time, the room in which you will want to chill out and relax in and a couple of throws and/or blankets will help to make your room feel so much more cosier. If you live in a colder climate this will help to keep your warm and cosy throughout the cold winter months. A throws can also be used to cover up furniture. If, for example, you have a old chair and the fabric does not match your new color scheme, then instead of spending a fortune on a new chair why not just select a throw to match the new color. This will help you to save money and helps create a cosy family room too.
Whether you have a hardwood floor or carpet rugs can always help bring the colors of the room to life, as well as being practical too. Hardwood floors can be cold on your feet and a rug will help to brighten up the room and keep your feet warm in colder weather too. In a carpeted room a rug can help to add a little something extra to the floor as well as bring everything in keeping with your color theme.
3. Decorative accessories
Light boxesare popular at the moment and for good reason as the wording is interchangeable and can represent so many things, from countdowns, to birthdays, to the current season and much more. They fit in any room, in any color scheme and help to bring a little bit of life into your home. If you are looking to brighten up your walls there are a number of canvases which can help brighten up your room, especially if you have opted for plain walls. Another great decorative item is wooden words or wooden letters to make up words and these look great on mantelpieces, sideboards and tables you might have within your family room.Image by MikeBirdy is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0 (source: Pixabay)
