To start with you will need to decide exactly how you want your invites to look. Before you start making your invites you will want to ensure you design your invite on paper to give yourself the best chance of creating the perfect invite for your wedding. Card:

To start with you are going to need some card in the correct size. Depending on what size invite you want to make you might need to consider cutting the card down and you might want to select a size or design that uses the most of the card so there is no wastage. Another thing to note is envelope size. When you are making your own invites you will need to purchase your envelopes extra and therefore might want something that fits tightly, but not too tightly, into an envelope.

Embellishments:

If you are looking to add a little few extras onto your invites embellishments are a great way to add a little something extra and help to make them stand out a little bit more. The world is your oyster when it comes to things that you can add onto your invites, from paper flowers., hessian, string, glitter and so much more. Hessian is very popular at the moment and if you are creating a rustic themed wedding this is the perfect addition to your invites, especially teamed with brown paper or brown card. Another good embellishment or addition to an invite is a doily and there are so many great variations on how you can use it, check online for many wonderful designs.

Glue gun:

Depending on your design and whether or not you want/need embellishments on your invites you might want to invest in a glue gun which will make all your invite crafting needs a lot easier.
